Diane Reidy-Lagunes, MD
Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

I am a medical oncologist who cares for people with gastrointestinal and endocrine cancers, including neuroendocrine, adrenal, colon, appendix, and pancreatic cancers, and cholangiocarcinoma.
I joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2008 and work as part of a team of experts who have chosen to dedicate their passion, knowledge, and experience to caring for people affected by these cancers.

Many of the cancers I treat have tremendous differences in their behavior. It’s my job and responsibility to ensure that my patients receive the best treatments delivered in the best ways possible. This requires a personalized approach. It’s also my job to be an advocate and to guide my patients through a very difficult time. We are on the journey together.
My research is focused on finding methods to use a molecular-based approach to treat neuroendocrine and adrenocortical cancers. Our goals and our North Star are to allow our patients to live happier, healthier, and longer lives. At MSK, our team is proud to be making great strides in how we care for people with these diseases.
One of them is our Cancer Straight Talk Podcast. I am the creator and host of the podcast, which brings together national experts and patients with cancer to have straightforward, evidence-based conversations. Through the podcast, I hope to educate and empower patients with information that can help them make the best decisions related to their individual care goals and ultimately, live happier, healthier lives.
Since its first episode aired in September 2020, Cancer Straight Talk has covered a variety of topics, ranging from financial toxicity to the role of health and exercise. When patients come to MSK, they have a lot of questions about their diagnosis and treatment plan. Many of the subjects that we talk about on Cancer Straight Talk might not come up in clinic for a variety of reasons; for instance, in the midst of the surprise that often comes with a cancer diagnosis, patients might not think to ask about health and exercise. Similarly, some patients might not know what financial toxicity is or how to start a conversation about it. I developed Cancer Straight Talk to not only help patients through a difficult time, but to also provide a safe place for education and understanding that cares for the whole patient, both in and outside of the clinic.
A new episode of Cancer Straight Talk becomes available at the end of each month. Stream Cancer Straight Talk below (with four episodes available in Spanish):
