The application of human stem cell-derived neurons to disease treatment and modeling is currently limited by their protracted maturation timing. I use a high content screening platform to discover modulators of neuronal maturation, with the ultimate goal of unraveling the underlying mechanisms and identifying methods to accelerate them. This approach also allows me to realize the unprecedented scalability of our differentiation protocols by combining the resulting large numbers of human neurons with state-of-the-art automation and screening technologies.
