This department processes cleaned and sterilized laboratory materials such as glass, plastics and instruments through a central administrative office and satellite processing facilities. Routine procedures allow collection , washing, drying, sterilization by steam autoclaving or high-temperature heating, and return of most materials within 24 hours. Additional SOPs provide acid-washing, RNase-free preparations, agar plate preparations, CO2 incubator and water bath routine cleaning, endotoxin screens and in-house pipette calibration services.
Services provided free of charge include the maintenance and distribution of dry ice inventories, alcohol, and sterilization of lab-prepared media and other materials. Ultrapure water is also available in all facilities.
