I am working as a Research technician in Dr. Chiosis’ lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I am currently involved in clinical trials, where my role is to perform drug pharmacokinetic studies. I am participating in several other projects as well, namely a neurodegenerative disease study, an efficacy study, and a correlative ex-vivo project. My responsibilities involve growing cells, establishing xenografts in mice, treating them with the appropriate drug, and harvesting the organs for determining drug uptake. I also perform tumor sectioning and its treatment with Hsp90 and Hsp70 inhibitors, where immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent staining is then done for specific protein biomarkers. In terms of animal work, I am responsible for breeding, weaning and maintaining the mouse colonies. I perform tail snips for genotyping, brain dissections, cerebral spinal fluid extractions and intraperitoneal injections.
