Gerstner Sloan Kettering welcomed its sixth class of PhD students on July 25, 2011. The incoming class is composed of three women and seven men. Four students are international (two are from China, one from Canada, and one from Turkey.) The remaining six come to us from undergraduate schools in New York, California, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
During a weeklong orientation, Gerstner Sloan Kettering welcomed the ten students through events that ranged from a welcome reception with Gerstner Sloan Kettering faculty, staff, and current students, and courses in fire and radiation safety and working with animals, to a meeting with Memorial Sloan Kettering President Craig Thompson, their first Dean’s Hour with Ken Marians, and a karaoke night with the Gerstner Sloan Kettering student body.
