Get to Know Me

I am a plastic surgeon with expertise in microsurgery and supermicrosurgery of the lymphatics — the vessels, nodes, and ducts that collect and circulate excess fluid in the body — and other subspecialties of reconstructive surgery. Microsurgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique that uses a microscope and other precision instruments to rebuild or repair small parts of the body.

My work extends across several specialties, including microsurgery of the breast, the lymphatic system, and the extremities. I specialize in autologous breast reconstruction, reconstruction after sarcoma surgery, and lymphovenous bypass, a surgical procedure that reroutes lymph vessels to nearby veins to treat lymphedema, a swelling of tissue caused by a buildup of lymph fluid.

I am one of the few surgeons who are skilled in surgical techniques such as supermicrosurgery to precisely connect extremely small vessels, including lymphatic vessels. My goal is to provide patients with every available surgical option to improve lymphedema.

As a physician, I love interacting with other people. The most rewarding aspect of being a plastic and reconstructive surgeon is bringing smiles to patients’ faces by enhancing their quality of life.

Outside of work, I am an avid tennis player.

The research team in the dept of plastic surgery are wonderful Professional, personable and explain things very well . My lymphedema is such a problem for me and the empathy and professional knowledge is so appreciated The nurses and other team members are just great as well Thanks to them ! This was my first time seeing Dr Yoshimatsu and I felt comfortable. I appreciated his explanations and willingness to answer all questions I had. He is a wonderful addition to the team.
