I am a nurse practitioner (NP) with over 8 years of experience in palliative care. At MSK, I care for people with any type of cancer, and/or people coping with the side effects of cancer and its treatment. I primarily see patients at Memorial Hospital.
When patients and caregivers meet with me, they often express concerns about pain, their medications, and coping with the uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis. I listen to them, learn about them as a person, and work to align my treatment plan with their goals. I also highlight and value the caregiver’s experience and knowledge as a vital part of the patient care team.
I pivoted from my first career teaching Spanish to a career in healthcare because I admired the nurses who cared for my mother during her lymphoma treatment. My goal is to provide my patients with the same high-quality, personalized care I would expect for my own family members.
In addition to caring for patients on the Supportive Care Service, I am the sole caregiver to my wife, an MSK patient with a stage IV cancer diagnosis. In rare moments of free time, we enjoy laughing at the antics of our grouchy terrier, Cookie.
