I have the honor of caring for, educating, and cheerleading for patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing allogeneic and autologous transplantation.
In 2003, when I became a nurse practitioner, I assumed responsibility for helping to provide comprehensive care and medical management to patients undergoing induction and consolidation therapy, treatment for melanoma, and autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Since 2011, I have been part of the team involved in conceptualizing and implementing an outpatient bone marrow transplant clinic to be managed by nurse practitioners in collaboration with a primary attending physician.
I have also taken part in shaping music therapy for outpatients to promote wellness, and collaborated on updates to educational materials in the outpatient program.
