As a board-certified nurse practitioner, I specialize in the care and treatment of people with breast cancer. I collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, fellows, and support staff to provide a full spectrum of care for patients undergoing breast surgery. My role includes examining and evaluating patients independently and in collaboration with surgeons — both prior to surgery and after surgery — as well as managing surgical concerns for patients. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as a nurse in various units, including surgical intensive care, the recovery room, and ambulatory care.
During the past several years, I have been a co-faculty lecturer for the biannual “Breast Care Course” sponsored by MSK. This course is developed to build a foundation for new breast oncology nurses and to prepare nurses for the certified breast cancer nurse certification. I am also an active member of the New York City chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society.
I’m passionate about the role of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and a well-balanced diet after a cancer diagnosis. To that end, for ten years I have been my karate school’s team captain for the Susan B. Komen race in New York City, a breast cancer fundraising event held in Central Park.
I work closely with surgeons Mahmoud El-Tamer and Andrea Barrio. We combine our expertise to provide comprehensive care to our patients at every step of their cancer journey.
