Our Breast Screening Program provides breast cancer screening that’s right for you. Based on your needs, we offer mammograms, contrast enhanced mammograms (using a special dye to highlight areas in your breast), breast ultrasound, or breast MRI. We also provide image-guided biopsy (samples of tissue are removed for testing using images of your breast) and bone density assessments (also known as bone densitometry). Our care team uses the latest digital equipment for breast exams. We make sure you feel comfortable while getting clear and accurate pictures of your breasts. MSK’s expert breast imaging radiologists may also recommend more imaging tests to get a better picture of your breasts. They may also do an image-guided biopsy to confirm a diagnosis. This is when pictures are used to guide us to the right spot of your breast to take a sample for testing.

MSK’s breast cancer screening guidelines recommend that most people assigned female at birth get a mammogram every year starting at age 40. If you are at high risk for breast cancer, we recommend you start screening earlier.
