I am a nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of nursing experience in caring for people with blood cancers. I started my nursing career in 2008 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), caring for people diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. I continued my dedication to the Leukemia Service when I became a nurse practitioner on the inpatient team. Now I care for people with acute and chronic leukemias in the outpatient setting at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at MSK.
When patients meet with me, they are often concerned about how the leukemia diagnosis impacts their daily life and how best to cope with common side effects from treatments. I like to review the timelines for their treatments to better prepare my patients for what to expect. I also draw on my years of oncology experience to help them manage their anxieties.
I chose a career in healthcare because of a strong desire to help and serve. A cancer diagnosis can make anyone feel vulnerable and I consider it my duty to help see our patients through to a healthier life.
