Memorial Sloan Kettering sponsors special events throughout the year to help postdocs develop their professional skills — and to celebrate their accomplishments. For details about upcoming talks and lectures open to the entire scientific community, view our events calendar.
Postdoc Slam
Modeled after the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition and the UCSF Postdoctoral Slam, the competition challenges postdocs to explain their research in three minutes or less to a lay audience using only one slide. Presentations are judged by a panel of science communications experts, researchers, and MSK community members. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three presentations. The audience also selects a people’s choice award.
Annual Postdoctoral Research Symposium
The annual Postdoctoral Research Symposium gives MSK postdocs a chance to showcase their research projects to the entire MSK community. This daylong event features talks, poster presentations, and a keynote address from a nationally recognized scientist. Past speakers include Drs. Nick Hastie, Eric Kandel, Christine Guthrie, Paul Nurse, Harold Varmus, Richard Lifton, Elaine Fuchs, Eric Betzig, Tanya Paull, Tracy Johnson, Dafna Bar-Sagi, Valentina Greco, and Marcia Haigis.
Postdoc Appreciation Week
Established by the National Postdoctoral Association, this week celebrates and recognizes postdocs for their significant contributions to the scientific research enterprise. MSK organizes several events, videos, and tributes to honor the postdoc community.
