Description

Join this beginner-level online barre class taught by an MSK fitness instructor to improve your balance and flexibility. In each class, we will break down the building blocks of movement using a combination of postures inspired by ballet, jazz, and Pilates. With a focus on strength, alignment, and mobility, Barre Basics will help you tone your body and improve your range of motion so you can move with confidence.

Audience

This class is open to people who have been treated for cancer and their caregivers.

Instructors

  • Jennifer Whitley, BC-DMT, LCAT, CMA; MSK Dance/Movement Therapist 

You Will Need:

  • A yoga mat, exercise mat, or a large towel
  • A pair of light hand weights, preferably one to three pounds each in size
  • Water to stay hydrated
  • A chair
  • A computer with a high-speed Internet connection, or a tablet, such as an iPad, or a smartphone
  • A webcam, speaker, and microphone. If you do not have a microphone and speaker, you can participate in the class by phone. You will receive the phone number once you register
  • Google Chrome or Firefox as your internet browser

What to Wear:  

  • Comfortable clothing so you can move easily

You Must Be Able To:  

  • Move from standing to lying down on the ground safely
