The Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer is looking for a highly motivated, academically oriented surgical resident – from PGY2 to PGY5 level at an ACGME accredited surgical residency program – interested in surgical oncology research. The ideal applicant should have experience in cell culture and basic histopathology methods and a strong interest in hepatobiliary malignancies. 

The successful candidate is expected to complete multiple projects during his/her two year research fellowship in research space adjoining the David Rubenstein Center for Pancreas Cancer Research (CPCR). This encompasses tumor genomics, establishment of patient derived organoids, and computational methods, among others. It is highly encouraged that projects be submitted to and presented at national and international meetings with the goal of publishing in journals with high impact factors. Active collaboration with the surgical oncology faculty and clinical fellows is strongly encouraged, as is participation in CPCR related activities.

The Department of Surgery at MSKCC is one of the highest volume cancer surgery centers in the country, providing large amounts of data for a variety of multidisciplinary research projects. The research environment at MSKCC is exceptionally fertile and particularly suited for translational research. This proximity of several world-class institutes, investigators, leaders in the study of cancer, fosters an environment of intense innovation and discovery by facilitating collaborations among investigators with diverse expertise in cancer research.
