Elective Course Description
This is an MSK elective on the GI Service during which the student will participate in various GI conferences (attended by GI fellows and faculty), observe inpatient GI consultations by the fellows, participate in daily attending rounds, observe GI procedures, and attend outpatient clinic.
Learning Objectives
- Assessment and evaluation of patients presenting with GI-related symptomatic complaints in the inpatient and outpatient setting, including clinical history and physical examination
- Selection and interpretation of GI diagnostic testing, including blood tests and radiology imaging studies
- Diagnosis and management of GI and hepatopancreaticobiliary disorders
- Indications, assessment, and follow-up of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures
