Kimberly Feigin, MD, has been named Chief of the Breast Imaging Service within the Department of Radiology. 

Kimberly Feigin, MD, has been named Chief of the Breast Imaging Service within the Department of Radiology. Dr. Feigin has been a member of the service for 22 years and most recently served as Interim Chief. Dr. Feigin also serves as the Head of Breast Imaging Quality Assurance and the Continuing Medical Education Coordinator for the service. She succeeds Maxine Jochelson, MD. 

“The faculty members of MSK’s Breast Imaging Service are pioneers in the implementation of new imaging technologies and procedures for people with suspected or diagnosed breast cancer,” explained Lawrence Schwartz, MD, Chair of the Department of Radiology. “Dr. Feigin’s passion for translational research, integration of patient care, mentorship, and teaching, as well as her proven administrative leadership will ensure that this service continues to support MSK’s vision to be the world’s leading authority on cancer. Dr. Feigin has demonstrated exceptional mentorship of trainees over the past two decades, fostering their growth and development with remarkable dedication. We are eager to see her continued active involvement in advancing the clinical, research, and training initiatives of the Breast Imaging Service, further strengthening its mission and impact.”

I am confident that, working in partnership with my colleagues, we will continue to innovate and develop cutting-edge diagnostic and interventional breast imaging technology, define evidence-based national practice guidelines, and elevate our practice through the integration of novel research and patient-centered care.” 

Dr. Feigin received her MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, completed her residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and conducted her fellowship training at MSK. She is an active member of the organized radiology community and has served as president of the New York Breast Imaging Society, the New York Roentgen Society, and the New York State Radiological Society (the New York chapter of the American College of Radiology). Her research activities are focused on improving breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment. She is a staunch advocate for equitable access to high quality radiological care and has been instrumental in promoting New York State legislation and regulations that expand hours of mammography services, provide paid time off for breast cancer screening, provide insurance coverage without cost sharing for screening mammography including digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), provide Medicaid coverage for DBT and provide insurance coverage for supplemental screening in women with dense breasts. 

MSK’s Department of Radiology is a leader in diagnostic and interventional radiology and a pioneer in innovation, applying the latest techniques, technology, and diagnostic methodologies to deliver integrated care. Many of the department’s members are nationally and internationally renowned experts in their fields who serve as leaders of professional organizations and as editors of top specialty journals. The department processes 8.3 million radiologic images per week, publishes on average over 450 peer-reviewed articles per year, and receives an average $45 million in grant funding per year for oncology-focused radiology research.
