Charged Up: Supporting MSK Kids Frontline Workers
In spring 2021, The Society of MSK’s Associates Committee launched Fully Charged, an exciting youth-driven, peer-to-peer fundraising initiative inspired by MSK Kids frontline doctors, nurses, and staff and their enduring commitment to caring for children with cancer. The effort provided staff members with power bank cellphone chargers. All additional funds raised supported The Society’s MSK Kids research and patient care programs.
Associates Committee member Veronica Swanson Beard and her sister-in-law Veronica Miele Beard, both founders of the fashion brand Veronica Beard, and Society board member Allison Aston were instrumental in making Fully Charged a huge success through a partnership with the brand’s philanthropic program, Veronica Beard Gives Back #VBGivesBack. Through a combined effort, more than $200,000 was raised to acknowledge the dedicated work at MSK Kids. The initiative drew on Society families’ time-honored tradition of instilling a culture of philanthropy from one generation to the next.
The Society of MSK is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to funding breakthrough discoveries that lead to novel treatments, educational programs that train young investigators, and patient-centered initiatives that improve care and ease the burdens cancer places on people with cancer and their families.
MSK is revolutionizing the way cancer is diagnosed and treated. Learn more about how your generosity makes this possible.
