I worked on an inpatient medical surgical unit at a hospital in Queens for three years. I found that I enjoyed working with people with cancer and their families. I cherished providing nursing care as well as personal and emotional care during their hospital stay. I then pursued outpatient care experience, which allows for closer follow up and a stronger relationship with our patients and their families. I joined a breast surgeon’s practice, where I worked very closely with the physician for six years. This was a rewarding experience, exposing me to all disciplines of care including medical oncology, radiation oncology, physical and lymphedema therapy, and more.
After obtaining my nurse practitioner degree, I became a radiation oncology advance practice provider at the newly opened MSK Monmouth facility in Middletown, New Jersey. I focus primarily on follow up care, seeing patients immediately after radiation therapy is completed, as well as months and years after. I hope that after a visit with me, my patients have a full understanding of their treatment and expected side effects as well as how to manage those side effects. Also, I am in constant communication with my patients’ team of physicians, providing updates and apprising them of any questions or concerns that may come up.
