Audrey is from a small rural town in southwest Virginia where she grew up helping her grandparents on their dairy farm in the Appalachian Mountains. Her love for taking care of animals, big and small, encouraged her to pursue veterinary medicine in her undergraduate studies. In her last year at Virginia Tech, she assisted a large animal veterinarian with research focused on antimicrobial activity of mesenchymal derived stem cells. Audrey became infatuated with research and ultimately decided to pursue this passion rather than the veterinary field. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science, she moved to New York City for a change. Taking her experience in vet med and laboratory practices, she got a job working in the Research Animal Resource Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. With her passion for research still there, two years later she joined the Tobias Hohl Lab as lab manager and technician, studying fungal co-infections. When Audrey is not working, you can find her with her two dogs, Finnegan and Trix, playing basketball, or rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers on football Sundays
