MSK is a very special place. There's treating someone's cancer and then there's treating someone's cancer with compassion.
My name is Juliana Eng. I'm a medical oncologist that specializes in lung cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
I'm an expert in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and molecular therapies.
I try to be very honest with patients. Lung cancer can be very, very scary. I just want patients to know that it's not as scary anymore because we have such better treatments. The outcomes are better, the side effects are better.
All of us work together to really take care of the patient from start to finish. I work closely with our expert radiation oncologists and surgical oncologists. We meet regularly at tumor boards and multidisciplinary conferences to make sure we're coming up with the best treatment plan possible for patients.
The mission is to cure cancer. The way we do that is by finding newer and better treatments. And we do that through our clinical trials. I've had patients who were told that there were no more treatment options and they come to MSK and we manage to find them something and it works. And people live longer because of it.
I see patients at MSK Commack, and we're just geographically convenient out here so that we can offer the same cutting-edge treatment opportunities to patients on Long Island.
I think that patients are the most inspiring. And they go through cancer with dignity and they go through it with strength. And I want to help them and hold their hand and get them through it.
