Anita Mamtani, MD, FACS
Breast Surgeon
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Surgical Site Director, MSK Bergen
I am a breast surgical oncologist with a practice dedicated to the treatment of breast diseases. I perform all types of breast surgery. This includes breast conservation (lumpectomy), mastectomy, and nipple-sparing mastectomy, as well as all types of axillary lymph node procedures.
I work closely with my colleagues in breast imaging, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and plastic surgery to deliver the highest quality of care. I see patients at the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center and at MSK Bergen.

I consider it a great privilege to support my patients throughout their treatment journey. When I meet with them, I aim to provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of their diagnosis and then recommend a care plan that offers the best possible outcome. I want to equip patients with the ability to move forward confidently and comfortably, knowing that my team and I are dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care every step of the way.
In addition to caring for patients, I am involved in research to improve breast cancer care and outcomes. I have done studies on various aspects of surgery of the axilla (armpit) in breast cancer. I have also researched understudied groups of people with breast cancer, including the young and the elderly, as well as those with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and invasive lobular breast cancer. My work has been presented at national meetings. I maintain active membership in local and national societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, exercising, exploring new cuisines and good eats in New York City, and spending time with my family.
A breast surgeon is a doctor with special training in surgery on breasts.
