Danielle Novetsky Friedman, MD
Pediatrician
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Associate Attending Pediatrician
I am a pediatrician trained in survivorship care in Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Pediatric Long-Term Follow-Up Program. As part of the MSK Kids team, we provide comprehensive screening and follow-up care to children and young adults who have been treated for childhood cancers. Our goal is to detect and minimize late effects that arise as a result of prior therapies, while also educating patients and counseling them about the best ways to support their health.

My research focuses on understanding risk factors that lead to the development of adverse long-term outcomes in childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors who are at high risk for late effects, especially after exposure to radiation therapy. My goal is to optimize screening and surveillance guidelines for these patients and ultimately implement risk-reducing strategies to improve long-term outcomes. I also have a particular interest in the long-term health outcomes of survivors of retinoblastoma. I work closely with the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study, a multicenter study which tracks the health and psychosocial outcomes of 25,000 childhood cancer survivors and their siblings, to inform the care we provide to the survivors we follow in our program. I am also co-chair of the Children’s Oncology Group Long-Term Follow-Up Guidelines Second Malignancy and Cancer Screening task force.
After completing my pediatric residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, I served as Pediatric Chief Resident here at MSK Kids. During that year, I coordinated and helped supervise residents rotating through our inpatient pediatric service. I was fortunate to learn a great deal about the inpatient management of many of the cancers for which our patients have been treated. It is gratifying to care for these same patients in our Long-Term Follow-Up clinic after they’ve finished their treatment.
In addition, I direct the Pediatric Survivorship Fellowship at MSK Kids and continue to train physicians in the evidence-based care of survivors of childhood cancer and blood disorders. It is a privilege to participate in the training of the next generation of survivorship physicians and ensure the continued care of our patients.
A pediatrician is a doctor with special training in caring for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
