Danielle H. Rochlin, MD
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Surgeon
I am a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with expertise in reconstruction for people with:
- Breast cancer (using breast implants and/or autologous tissue [tissue from a patient’s own body])
- Head and neck cancer
- Skin cancer
- Pediatric cancer
Plastic and reconstructive surgeons like me help repair, reconstruct, and restore the normal appearance and function of areas of the body affected by cancer. In addition to causing fear and worry, cancer can affect a person’s confidence and sense of self. My work is focused on helping people with cancer look and feel like themselves again in a way that matches each patient’s personal goals. To that end, I understand that this type of surgery is deeply personal, and each person who receives plastic and reconstructive surgery is different. I appreciate these differences and treat every patient who comes to me for care as an individual.

I also ask questions to make sure that I have a clear sense of each patient’s likes and dislikes. Whereas some patients might not care much about a scar, for example, others will. Taking these personal preferences into account when planning the procedure allows me to deliver results that match my patients’ expectations. After patients meet with me, I hope they feel confident in my ability to provide safe, personalized, and evidence-based care. It is my goal that they also feel well-informed about all of their possible reconstructive options and secure in the knowledge that I am available to guide them through this process both before and after surgery.
I have completed fellowship training in microsurgery, which involves transferring a patient’s own tissue (skin, fat, and/or muscle) from one part of the body to another and connecting the blood vessels that supply blood to the tissue by using an operating microscope. With this technique, I can reconstruct nearly any part of the body from head to toe. Some areas, like the head and the neck, can be more complicated to operate on. I have additional fellowship training in craniofacial surgery, which provides extra expertise in reconstruction involving the head and neck, as well as in caring for pediatric patients.
In addition to caring for patients, I spend a lot of my time sharing information about the best practices for performing plastic and reconstructive surgery. I have authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on topics spanning the full breadth of the specialty. Many of these have focused on breast reconstruction using both implants and patients’ own tissue.
My research interests include understanding, preventing, and minimizing breast pain after breast reconstruction with implants or autologous tissue. I am also engaged in the affordability and economics of reconstructive surgery. This involves the financial well-being of people who receive breast reconstruction and price transparency in surgery.
When I am not working, I enjoy running, skiing, and volunteering to teach plastic and reconstructive surgery abroad.
A plastic and reconstructive surgeon is a doctor with special training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. These procedures restore function and appearance.
