I am an internist with special training in caring for older adults with cancer. Over the years, as the average life expectancy has increased, people are living longer. As a result, we commonly offer cancer treatment to people in their 80s and even 90s.

As people age, their health conditions change. Many of the people in my care already have health conditions other than cancer, like diabetes and high blood pressure, that need special attention during cancer treatment. I work closely with my patients and their oncologists to guide treatment and recovery with support that meets my patients’ medical and personal needs. Together, we create personalized care plans that:

  • Respect and reflect our patients’ individual goals and preferences for treatment.

When I meet with patients for the first time, I take the time to really understand who they are and the many factors that may influence their cancer treatment journey. We talk about any health conditions other than cancer that they may have, their physical health, their mental health, and their day-to-day life. In addition to meeting with patients who are new to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I meet with patients prior to cancer surgery and provide clinical care after surgery when they are in the hospital.

Open, honest communication helps us deliver the best care possible. I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental environment where my patients can comfortably tell me how they are feeling and what may or may not be working for them.

I received my medical degree from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. From there, I completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and a geriatric medicine fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School. I have experience in private practice, rehabilitation facilities, and in academia, all of which have been highly valuable to my practice at MSK.
