Get to Know Me

I am an internist with a focus on hospice and palliative medicine who aims to provide high-quality care to patients with serious and complex illnesses. As a former hospitalist, I am experienced in the management of seriously and critically ill patients, and I constantly tailor my knowledge and approach to each patient’s individual needs. My primary purpose is to help patients live maximally and enhance their quality of life while they pursue disease-directed therapy that aligns with their values, goals, and preferences.

Throughout my time as a chief resident, an attending hospitalist, and now, a hospice and palliative medicine attending, I have had the privilege of teaching medical trainees the skills needed to be a strong clinician. My goal is to always facilitate optimal communication between patients and their oncology teams, and to alleviate the distress that often accompanies cancer treatment.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends. My hobbies include dancing, arts and crafts, and exploring the vibrant culture of New York through the eyes of my toddler.

I absolutely adore Dr. Sharma!!!! She provides superlative care...she's exceptionally attentive to listening to my desires for care by acknowledging and respecting all that I express. Dr. Sharma clearly explains my options and possible outcomes. She is a very compassionate and caring human!!! I feel that she is fully vested in providing me with whatever it takes to ensure my quality of life!!!!
