Magalie Bruneus, MD
Hospitalist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Physician
I am a hospitalist who cares for people with cancer who have been admitted to the hospital. I focus on providing high-quality and high-value individualized care. I work with MSK patients’ cancer care teams, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, along with case managers and social workers. Together, we provide excellent patient-centered care and ensure a safe transition of care after discharge from the hospital. As a hospitalist, I am a relay station of sorts, optimizing communication and facilitating the coordination of care.

My motto has always been to treat others as I want to be treated. This belief has allowed me to treat my patients with empathy and compassion. When people are in the hospital, they are in a vulnerable period in their lives. I try to alleviate their concerns by making sure that they understand their diagnostic and treatment options, so they can focus on their recovery and loved ones. I strive to be a perpetual listener and learner, to have an open mind, to be warm and calm, with a respectful demeanor and a sense of both humility and humor.
Before enrolling in medical school, I was a neuropharmacology research associate. This position allowed me to understand how drugs work, as well as the neurobiology of drug abuse and how it can affect behavior. This experience has made me more analytical in how I review diagnostic or care options, using evidence-based medicine to address my patients’ needs.
I am board-certified in internal medicine. After completing my internal medicine training, I did a hospital medicine fellowship. This allowed me to learn how hospital teams work together to foster patient safety and promote high-quality patient care while constantly looking at opportunities for further improvement.
I have been in practice since 2012. I was a hospitalist and assistant professor at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell and New York Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan for four years. Afterwards, I went on to train as a fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and subsequently earned a board certification in palliative care. This experience enhanced my understanding of total pain, how to treat complex pain, how to efficiently communicate with patients on difficult topics, and how to provide the best supportive care.
During my spare time, I like to cook and spend time with family. I also enjoy all that New York City has to offer, but every once in a while, I find myself exploring nature on Long Island with complete delight.
A hospitalist is a doctor with special training in caring for people in the hospital.
