Meredith Bartelstein, MD, FAAOS
Orthopaedic Surgeon
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.
About Me
- Assistant Attending Surgeon
I am an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in caring for people with primary bone cancer, soft tissue sarcomas, and metastatic cancer that has spread to the bone. I also have expertise in treating non-cancerous bone and soft tissue tumors.
I see patients at Memorial Hospital and the Rockefeller Outpatient Pavilion in Manhattan.

Cancer is often overwhelming and scary. I consider it an honor to help people and their family members through difficult times. As a cancer specialist, I spend a lot of time with patients, which enables me to develop strong relationships. Helping them get well and back to their lives makes everything worth it.
I have special expertise in preserving limb function after bone cancer surgery. Many people with bone cancer are concerned about functional recovery. I believe in doing everything possible to help them maintain their mobility.
Advances in chemotherapy and immunotherapy are allowing people to live longer than before, so we are searching for more durable treatments that are individually tailored for each person. I have found that patient goals can vary and aren’t always what we expect, so discussing them up front is very helpful.
After an office visit with me, I want patients to feel that their concerns and wishes have been heard. I also strive for them to be confident in the treatment plan that we have designed.
An orthopaedic (OR-thuh-PEE-dik) surgeon is a doctor with special training in surgery on the musculoskeletal system. This includes the bones, joints, tendons, and muscles.
