Paola Ghione, MD, MSEpi
Lymphoma Specialist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Physician
I am a hematologist-oncologist specializing in the treatment of lymphoma, which I believe to be one of the most interesting and rewarding subfields of modern oncology, with a lot of immediate connections to research. I have worked in lymphoma patient care and research for more than a decade now, and the pace of improvement has been incredible.

One of my favorite parts of providing clinical care is helping people with lymphoma get exactly what they need. Sometimes, this means just waiting and monitoring their disease. Other times, this means pursuing standard treatment or the latest intervention in development. When patients meet me for the first time, they can be afraid of their diagnosis and what will come next. I like to take my time to listen and understand people’s priorities, needs, and worries, so I can take these aspects into account when I make my recommendations. I also like to clarify and explain all the available options, so we can make an informed decision together. In my experience, often just being informed about the disease and knowing that all the best treatment pathways have been lined-up and ready to go is a great relief for people facing a diagnosis of lymphoma.
Treating and studying lymphoma is all I do every day, and this is a great privilege. My research focuses on understanding more about lymphoma and its genetic ties. To that end, I evaluate germline (inherited) factors and genetically profile tumors to investigate whether some patients have a higher risk for developing lymphoma. I also study biomarkers of prognosis and response. In lymphoma, there are several mutations that can indicate better or worse prognosis or likelihood of response to certain treatments. I am also deeply involved in clinical trials testing new technologies and strategies to treat lymphoma.
