What I Do at MSK

I am a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with expertise in stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies, such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells and viral-specific T-cells (VSTs) for the treatment of adult patients with lymphoma, lymphoid leukemia, multiple myeloma, and refractory viral-associated infections or lymphoproliferative diseases. I am committed to providing compassionate care for our patients and their families during what can often be a stressful time.

My clinical research has focused on improving transplant outcomes by introducing personalized and targeted approaches to help reduce the side effects and complications associated with stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.

I serve as a national inspector for FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) and chair the Adult and Pediatric FACT Taskforce at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). FACT is an internationally-recognized body that accredits (gives official approval to) hospitals and medical centers that offer stem cell transplantation. It is the marker for excellence in transplant and cellular therapy. FACT accreditation indicates that our clinical, apheresis, and processing facilities have met the most rigorous standards in every aspect of stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.

I also chair the MSK Transplant Guideline Taskforce and am a member of the MSK BMT Quality Assurance Committee.

I am fluent in English and Persian (Farsi).

A cellular therapy specialist is a doctor with special training in using cell therapies to treat health conditions such as cancer. Therapies can include chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy.
