I am board-certified in clinical informatics, in addition to anatomic and clinical pathology. I serve as Director of Pathology Informatics and a member of the Warren Alpert Center for Computational Pathology.

I am a recognized expert and leader in digital and computational technologies. My work focuses on the “operationalization” of digital pathology, artificial intelligence (AI), and efforts in data engineering. I am the past 2021 President of the Association for Pathology Informatics. Likewise, I actively participate in other national committees to enable digital and computational technologies and data initiatives to steer national strategic direction and policy.

In my clinical role, I practice as a surgical pathologist specializing in genitourinary tumors. My multi-disciplinary perspectives in informatics, AI, and clinical practice efforts give me a unique perspective and understanding of technology’s cognitive and social impact on today’s clinical practice and future implementation.

I am passionate about building for the future. For that, I believe in investing and growing human capital for digital transformation and sustainability in cancer care. I have mentored and cultivated a stream of digital and computational talent to transform healthcare digitally.

A pathologist is a doctor who uses a microscope to make a diagnosis from cell and tissue samples. They analyze the samples to learn the cause and effects of a health condition.
