After my nephrology training at Weill Cornell Medical Center, I spent additional time training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where I subspecialized in onconephrology to sharpen my understanding of kidney issues associated with cancer. During my inpatient and outpatient consultations, I strive to provide clear explanations and answer any questions to the best of my ability. I aim to comfort my patients and instill a sense of trust and teamwork with them.
I am a member of several nephrology societies, including the American Society of Nephrology. I have attended and presented at national conferences. My current research interest is kidney injury in people who have undergone bone marrow transplantation. I am also interested in identifying early markers of kidney injury through novel urine biomarkers. I am always eager to collaborate with my oncology colleagues at Memorial Sloan Kettering with the ultimate goal of performing meaningful and thoughtful research to help our patients.

Dr. Gutgarts was warm, professional & extremely communicative. She profusely apologized for having me wait. Previous patient turned out to be an emergency & hospitalized. She was genuine, went over every issue in detail with explanations of everything she was prescribing and/or changing. There was constant interaction, asking my thoughts and if I had any questions throughout the visit. She took the time with me that the seriousness of my situation deserved. A big thumbs-up!?
