Omar Abdel-Wahab Received the William Dameshek Prize from the American Society of Hematology
Omar Abdel-Wahab, MD, leukemia specialist, Chair of the Molecular Pharmacology at the Sloan Kettering Institute, and Edward P. Evans Endowed Chair for MDS, received the William Dameshek Prize from the American Society of Hematology (ASH). The William Dameshek Prize is awarded each year to an individual who has made outstanding contributions in hematology. Dr. Abdel-Wahab was recognized for his trailblazing research characterizing the genetic mutations that drive blood cancers.
Anaeze Offodile II Appointed to the Peterson Health Technology Institute Advisory Board
Anaeze Offodile II, MD, MPH, Chief Strategy Officer, was appointed to the Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) Advisory Board. Members of PHITI’s Advisory Board bring deep expertise and diverse perspectives from the across the healthcare industry to support PHTI’s work developing rigorous, evidence-based analysis of the clinical benefits and economic impact of digital health solutions.
Jason Klein Named 2023 Industry Innovation Award Finalist by Chief Investment Officer Magazine
Jason Klein, Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, was named a finalist for the 2023) Industry Innovation Award in the Efforts in Diversity category by the Chief Investment Officer (CIO). The publication recognizes allocators driving change and enhancing performance in institutional investing.
Ross Levine Honored with the Excellence in Scientific Service Award by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Ross Levine, MD, leukemia specialist and physician- scientist, Deputy Physician-in- Chief of Translational Research at Memorial Hospital, and the Laurence Joseph Dineen Chair in Leukemia Research, was honored with the Excellence in Scientific Service award by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). This award recognizes outstanding scientists who have made exceptional contributions to blood cancer research and have also generously given their time and expertise to help LLS find and fund the brightest scientists and most innovative biotech companies working to cure all forms of blood cancer.
Vonetta Williams Awarded the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation Robert A. Winn Diversity in Clinical Trials Award
Vonetta Williams, MD, PhD, radiation oncologist, was honored with the Robert A. Winn Diversity in Clinical Trials Career Development Award. The Winn Award Program aims to train, develop, and mentor more than 308 clinical trialists and 308 medical students by 2027 who are diverse or have demonstrated commitment to clinical trial diversity.
Peter Stetson Honored with the 2023 Kate Niehaus Award for the Advancement of Patient-and-Family Centered Care by MSK’s Patient & Family Advisory Council for Quality
Peter Stetson, MD, MA, hospitalist and Chief Health Informatics Officer, received the 2023 Kate Niehaus Award for the Advancement of Patient-and Family-Centered Care by MSK’s Patient & Family Advisory Council for Quality (PFACQ). This annual award is presented to an MSK team or staff member who best embodies the principles of patient and family centered care.
Kent Sepkowitz Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by MSK’s Patient & Family Advisory Council for Quality
Kent Sepkowitz, MD, infectious disease specialist and Deputy Physician in Chief for Quality and Safety, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by MSK’s Patient & Family Advisory Council for Quality. Dr. Sepkowitz was recognized for his contribution to establishing and supporting the council at MSK.
Karuna Ganesh Honored with The Sue Eccles Early Career Investigator Award by the Metastasis Research Society
Karuna Ganesh, MD, PhD, medical oncologist, was awarded the Sue Eccles Early Career Investigator Award from the Metastasis Research Society (MRS). This award honors excellent metastasis research performed by members of the MRS who are in their first faculty position after postdoctoral training, before promotion to the next level, and who have established their own independent research group.
Jennifer Petruno Received the 2023 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
Jennifer Petruno, BSN, RN, Clinical Nurse II for Medical Oncology and Supportive Care at MSK Bergen, received the 3rd Quarter 2023 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses by the MSK Department of Nursing in collaboration with the DAISY Foundation. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes nurses for their acts of kindness and the sensitivity they demonstrate daily, making a profound difference in a patient’s healthcare experience.
Nastassia Singh Awarded the 2023 DAISY Nurse Leader Award
Nastassia Singh, BSN, RN, CCRN ICU, RRT, dialysis nurse leader, was honored with the DAISY Nurse Leader Award by the MSK Department of Nursing in collaboration with the DAISY Foundation. This award highlights nurses who do not typically have direct patient care as part of their work and create an environment where compassionate, skillful care thrives.
Dawn Doherty Honored with the 2023 Survivor of the Year Award by the American Cancer Society
MSK patient Dawn Doherty was awarded the 2023 Survivor of the Year Award by the American Cancer Society. The Survivor of the Year Award recognizes a survivor, of any age and any stage in their cancer diagnosis, who is inspirational and influential in the fight to end cancer.
