Our gastrointestinal stromal tumor nomogram is a tool designed to predict the likelihood of tumor recurrence two years and five years following the complete resection (surgical removal of all cancerous tissue) of the gastrointestinal stromal tumor. It is appropriate for patients who have not received tyrosine kinase inhibitors before or after surgery.
Results produced by this tool are based on data from patients treated at MSK, a large research institution with surgeons who perform a high volume of gastrointestinal stromal tumor procedures, and validated using external databases from the Mayo Clinic and the Spanish Sarcoma Registry. This tool has also been externally validated by the Singapore General Hospital (see Supporting Publications). All results must be understood in the context of each patient’s specific treatment plan. Patients and caregivers using this tool should discuss the result with the patient’s physician.
