Carlyn Rose Tan, MD
Myeloma Specialist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Physician
I am a board-certified hematologist and oncologist specializing in the treatment of multiple myeloma and other related plasma cell disorders. I am part of a multidisciplinary team caring for people with these conditions. I joined Memorial Sloan Kettering in 2020 and have experience in treating blood cancers, with a focus on multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and bone marrow transplant and cellular therapy.
During my years in fellowship training, I became interested in hematologic malignancies, specifically multiple myeloma. I believe that a better understanding of the underlying biology behind multiple myeloma and its interaction with and evasion of the immune system will lead to improved therapies and outcomes. My specific research interests include the development of innovative therapeutic approaches for the management of multiple myeloma and the exploration of biomarkers to predict and track responses to these therapies. I am also working to develop methods and interventions to address short-term and long-term toxicities from currently available therapies. I am involved in a number of clinical trials evaluating novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of multiple myeloma, including chimeric antigen receptor Tcell therapies.

Cancer can be a life-altering condition for patients, family, and friends. I believe that every patient deserves to be heard and understood by their physician. As an oncologist, we have the unique privilege to provide treatment, guidance, and support for patients and their families during this potentially trying time. It is part of my responsibility as a physician to guide patients through any problems that arise during their time with cancer.
I came to MSK to be a part of the innovative, collaborative research community and to join a group of people who have dedicated their lives to helping and improving care for people with cancer. With science and medicine side by side, the unique infrastructure and outstanding expertise at MSK allow me to offer patients the best possible care for the management of blood cancers.
During my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and baking.
