At Memorial Sloan Kettering, scientists and doctors leave no stone unturned in creating a better world for people with cancer. We are building a unique infrastructure to support our research and promote the exploration of fresh knowledge and ideas, and to make sure our innovations will benefit patients and society as quickly as possible.
Our Research and Technology Management (RTM) division oversees the financial and strategic planning of our scientific enterprise, and manages a range of resources that are essential to its health. For example, RTM’s Office of Research and Project Administration manages institutional and external research funds and funding proposals, and the Sloan Kettering Institute fiscal budget. Clinical Research Administration, oversees activities related to clinical research operations and compliance, including services related to protocol activation and management, quality assurance, human research subject protections, and pre- and post-award fiscal management. The Office of Technology Development (OTD) manages Memorial Sloan Kettering’s world-class portfolio of intellectual property and works to ensure that inventions made by our investigators have the greatest chance of translating into improvements in cancer care for people everywhere.
The division is also responsible for maintaining policies and procedures and providing training that help ensure that all research conducted at MSK is held to the highest ethical standards and adheres to prevailing sponsor policies and research compliance regulations. It is also responsible for the administration of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Export Control Program, and research with hESC, hSPC, gamete generation, and/or human embryos.
In addition, RTM hosts a range of courses and training programs for faculty, research fellows, and other research staff.
