
International patients with questions about insurance or finances can receive personalized attention from our staff of financial counselors.
Our multilingual Financial Counselors will guide and help explain your financial arrangements to pay for care at MSK. Our goal is to provide you with the most accurate cost estimates for your treatment, and we are committed to helping you understand what to expect.
Financial Counselors work with patients and third parties, such as international insurance carriers and foreign government sponsors, to manage a seamless billing and payment process. We will keep communication open throughout the process. Our experienced Financial Counselors are here to answer any questions.
Options for International Patients to Pay
Self-Payment
Financial Counselors guide patients through the self-payment process, which begins with helping patients complete the initial deposit in a timely manner to make sure there will be no delays to their visit.
The initial deposit amount MSK requires for patients outside of the U.S. is calculated based on the cancer diagnosis. Our Financial Counselors will continue to guide you after your first visit. They will provide timely billing and cost estimates for the rest of the treatment plan. We accept payment in the form of major credit cards, traveler’s checks, certified checks, and wire transfers.
Insurance
Our Financial Counselors can help you determine if your international insurance provides any coverage for care at MSK. Please email international@mskcc.org or ask your designated Care Advisor.
Embassy and Other Government Agency Sponsorship
Our Financial Counselors are experienced in working with embassies and other government agencies that sponsor patient care at MSK. We work with patients to secure a letter of guarantee to authorize payment for care. The Financial Counselors will send your embassy a financial statement, detailing the costs of the treatment plan. The embassies and government agencies decide on the approved services to be covered and any patients’ out-of-pocket expenses. Our team will help you understand the financial arrangements.
